What information do we collect? We collect information from you when you register on our site, enrol in an OETC course or subscribe to our newsletter. Any data we request that is not required will be specified as voluntary or optional. When   ordering   or   registering   on   our   site,   as   appropriate,   you   may   be   asked   to   enter   your:   name,   e-mail   address,   mailing address,   phone   number   or   credit   card   information.   You   will   be   required   to   create   an   account.   Please   see   OETC’s   Terms   & Conditions  for more information. Like   most   websites,   we   use   cookies   to   enhance   your   experience,   gather   general   visitor   information,   and   track   visits to   our   website.   Please   refer   to   the   'do   we   use   cookies?'   section   below   for   information   about   cookies   and   how   we   use them. What do we use your information for? Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways: To personalize your experience (your information helps us to better respond to your individual needs) To improve our website (we continually strive to improve our website offerings based on the information and feedback we receive from you) To improve customer service (your information helps us to more effectively respond to your customer service requests and support needs) To process transactions Your   information,   whether   public   or   private,   will   not   be   sold,   exchanged,   transferred,   or   given   to   any   other   company   for any   reason   whatsoever,   without   your   consent,   other   than   for   the   express   purpose   of   delivering   the   purchased   product or service requested by the customer. If you provide us your Email address: The   email   address   you   provide   for   order   processing   and   site   communications,   may   be   used   to   send   you   information   and updates   pertaining   to   your   order,   request,   student   questions   and/or   course   updates.   However,   if   you   send   an   information request   via   our   contact   us   page    your   email   will   only   be   used   to   correspond   with   you   regarding   your   request.   This   address   will be deleted after the information request has been closed. How do we protect your information? We   implement   a   variety   of   security   measures   to   maintain   the   safety   of   your   personal   information   when   you   submit   a   request, place an order or enter, submit, or access your personal information. These   security   measures   include:   password   protected   directories   and   databases   to   safeguard   your   information,   SSL   (Secure Sockets   Layered)   technology   to   ensure   that   your   information   is   fully   encrypted   and   sent   across   the   Internet   securely   and Firewall Scanning to actively protect our servers from hackers and other vulnerabilities. OETC annually and periodically scans all database and website files using SiteLock ® to ensure our site is Malware Free OETC   uses   PayPal    payment   gateway   systems   to   ensure   we   are   using   the   most   up   to   date   and   secure   method   of   payment process   available   on   the   internet.   Due   to   this   operating   philosophy,   OETC   does   not   keep   any   records   of   your   personal financial information as this is processed completely by Paypal. After   a   transaction,   your   private   information   (credit   cards,   social   security   numbers,   financials,   etc.)   will   not   be   stored on   our   servers.   Any   telephone   payments   made   will   include   a   deletion   of   credit   card   information   following   the successful or failed transaction. OETC Use of cookies? Yes   (Cookies   are   small   files   that   a   site   or   its   service   provider   transfers   to   your   computers   hard   drive   through   your   Web browser   that   enables   the   sites   or   service   providers   systems   to   recognize   your   browser   and   capture   and   remember   certain information). OETC uses cookies in only 2 ways: To allow you secured access to our e-Training system. To maintain any location information within partially completed Unit Presentations (Flash Cookies). Do we disclose any information to outside parties? No   and   we   never   will,   we   do   not   sell,   trade,   or   otherwise   transfer   to   outside   parties   any   of   your   personal   information.   This does   not   include   trusted   third   parties   (such   as   PayPal)   who   assist   us   in   operating   our   website,   conducting   our   business (Regulator   Director Approval   i.e.   provincial,   state   certification   boards   &   ministries),   so   long   as   those   parties   agree   to   keep   this information   confidential   under   OETC’s   Privacy   Policy.   We   may   also   release   your   information   when   we   believe   a   release   is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others' rights, property, or safety. Third party links At   OETC   discretion,   we   will   include   or   offer   third   party   links   (such   as   Provincial,   State   or   Federal   links)   or   services   on   our website.   These   third   party   sites   have   separate   and   independent   privacy   policies.   We   therefore   have   no   responsibility   or liability   for   the   content   and   activities   of   these   linked   sites.   Nonetheless,   we   seek   to   protect   the   integrity   of   our   site   and welcome   any   feedback   about   these   sites.   If   we   become   aware   of   a   Third   Party   link   in   blatant   breach   of   OETC’s   policies,   you will be provided a warning before leaving our site for the third party site. Canadian, USA and California and On-line Privacy Protection Acts conformance. Because   we   value   your   privacy,   we   have   taken   the   necessary   precautions   to   be   in   compliance   with   the   California   Online Privacy   Protection   Act.   in   addition   to   the   Canadian   and   USA   Privacy   Acts.   We   therefore   will   not   distribute   your   personal information to outside parties without your consent. Children’s On-line Privacy Protection Act. California Compliance Statement: We   are   in   compliance   with   the   requirements   of   COPPA   (Children’s   On-line   Privacy   Protection   Act),   we   do   not   collect   any information   from   anyone   under   13   years   of   age.   Our   website,   products   and   services   are   all   directed   to   people   who   are   at   least 13 years old or older. CAN-SPAM Compliance We   have   taken   the   necessary   steps   to   ensure   that   we   are   compliant   with   the   CAN-SPAM   Act   of   2003   by   never   sending   out misleading information. OETC Regulatory Newsletter in relation to SPAM OETC’s    monthly    newsletter    is    a    voluntary    opt-in    subscription    and    any    recipient    of    the    OETC    monthly    newsletter    can unsubscribe   at   any   time   via   the   links   at   the   bottom   of   the   newsletter.   Subsequently,   if   you   believe   OETC   is   practising   in   bad faith    or    utilising    its    newsletter    email    database    or    newsletter    communication    medium    for    any    business    other    than communicating   regulatory   information,   relevant   industry   news   or   OETC   course   information,   a   complaint   option   is   available   at the bottom of each newsletter. On-line / Off-line Privacy Policy This   on-line   privacy   policy   applies   only   to   information   collected   through   our   website   and   information   collected   off-line.   This also   applies   to   any   information   we   may   acquire   from   “The   Regulator”   in   regards   to   delivering,   uploading   or   recording accredited training hours.
