Constructing in a DWQMS Accredited Facility - Ontario

This course was developed to communicate your Drinking Water Quality Management System requirements to consultants, constructors, chemical delivery personnel, maintenance and any other individual or organisation that will have contact with your facilities (whether Treatment of Distribution). We begin with an overview of the Drinking Water system and the technology, certification and regulatory requirements that govern and guide our industry. We’ll look at what a quality management system is and the service delivery persons role in that system. The student is informed of your legal requirement for a Quality Management Policy and are encouraged to look for the poster of that policy, along with the certification of all the staff posted in your facility. Throughout this course participants will learn interesting facts about drinking water and its importance throughout human history. We examine threats to the drinking water system and the processes in place to mitigate against those threats. Following completion of this course the participant will obtain a knowledge and respect for the drinking water system and understand their important role in the delivery of safe, clean drinking water.   At the end of this course, the student, whether they be chemical delivery, engineers, constructors, coop students, OIT’s, senior managers or maintenance technicians, will understand how to communicate and discuss issues with the OIC and ORO and understand who those individuals are. OETC’s objective is to instil a respect for the importance of Drinking Water and fulfil your legislated requirement to communicate DWQMS principals to plant visitors. To Service Provider Organisations: If you are enroling a group, a group summary Certificate of Completion with your company name and names of successful students will be provided (along with individual Course Completion Certificates). This document can be provided to the Drinking Water System ORO for validation. If you would like this document to be provided directly from the OETC to the Drinking Water System please contact martinv@oetc.ca; due to Canadian Privacy legislation, authorisation must be provided before this step can be completed. To Operating Authorities: To encourage an increased level of awareness in our industry, OETC recommends this course be a requirement for all non-certified personnel accessing your sites on a regular bases. Including this requirement in tender specifications is the simplest way to do this. For Operating Authorities thinking of specifying a requirement to have all non-operational personnel receive this course, contact martinv@oetc.ca for a municipal specification discount. OETC, will provide a discount to authorities wishing to make this a mandatory course. Minimum class size: 20 / Maximum class size: 50
